HOW TO RELIEVE NECK PAIN AT HOME IN UNDER 5 MINUTES
The next best thing to a masseuse is your own two hands. And if you're like a lot of us, you probably deal with neck pain regularly. Working from home; watching Netflix boxsets and excessive phone use has all contributed to the increase in neck pain that we are feeling. The trick is to act at home before the pain takes hold. This is where the tennis ball comes in. It's one of the easiest solutions to rid yourself of that annoying tension and cut back on the number of massages you will need in the long run to rectify a more established pain problem.
To give yourself a neck massage with a tennis ball, first, find a comfortable spot on the floor to lie down. Then, place the ball under your neck, behind your head on one side of the spine. Next, allow your weight to settle into the ball while slowly turning your head from side to side. If one spot is especially sore, rest on that spot for 60 seconds to reduce the tightness in that muscle. Move the ball to the other side of the spine and repeat.
Next, place the tennis ball in the groove on the back of your neck, and bend your knees, keeping the pressure off your low back. Slowly turn your head to the right taking a deep breath when you hit a tender area. Continue rolling until your ear is facing the floor and slowly return to the centre. Repeat on the left side.
The final neck fix: Here, you are massaging the back muscles of your neck by tucking your chin down toward your chest. When you return to your starting position, you’re stretching that area out. Do three sets of five reps on each side for a satisfying stretch and massage with your hands for several minutes.
