ireland’s first health farm
Set on 38 acres of wilderness in what is known as ‘The Garden of Ireland’, Powerscourt Springs is Ireland’s first Health Farm - a getaway aimed at giving you the space to rest and reconnect in a laid-back accessible way.
Powerscourt Springs, which originally opened in 1996, was a new concept to the Irish hospitality market. It was the brainchild of two women who had visited similar destinations in the UK and noticed that there was nothing of its kind in Ireland at that time.
Set on 38 acres of land, overlooked by The Great Sugarloaf, with the River Dargle flowing around it and its own natural spring - the ladies felt it was the perfect location for guests to disconnect and relax. The original Health Farm had 11 bedrooms; 8 treatment rooms; restaurant; pool and fitness studio. Today it has 30 bedrooms.
While it took almost three years to convince the Irish public of the concept of a health farm, Powerscourt Springs soon became the buzzword for pampering in many circles. It was extended in 2001 and remained a well-known destination until its closure in 2008.
A short time later, it temporarily became a private detox centre for celebrities and well-known figures from Ireland and abroad and later closed. Then in July 2020 it reopened under new ownership reviving its original concept - to provide you with a unique adult-only getaway only 30 minutes from Dublin where you can pause your busy life; rest and reconnect with yourself or loved ones.
